SENIOR WELLNESS PROGRAM

Your pet's health is very important to us and that is why we have implemented a comprehensive wellness program here at Dorr Veterinary Clinic. Between 10% and 15% of pets that seem healthy by physical exam alone, actually have underlying problems that we could detect by doing further testing. Early detection can help us treat or manage them before they threaten your pet's well being. Pets age faster than we do, so potential illnesses can sneak up on our pets before we're ready to expect them. "Middle age" for our pets can be as young as four years old! Imagine only visiting the doctor four times by the time you're 40 years old.

Your visit will start with a detailed physical examination. This will include questions for you regarding your pet's health and habits. The doctor will then check your pet's eyes, ears, skin, teeth, heart, and abdomen. Next, the you and the doctor will go over a plan for your pet's health, including dental disease, parasite prevention, arthritis and nutrition.

Our Senior Wellness Program Includes The Following:

Senior Wellness Physical Exam
Arthritis Disease Evaluation
Dental Disease Evaluation

Senior Wellness Profile
The Senior Wellness Profile includes detailed bloodwork to check your pet's liver, kidneys, and thyroid, as well as their immune system.

Also included in the Senior Wellness Profile is a Urinalysis. A urinalysis assesses the health and function of the urinary system. This is especially important in older animals to help early detection of kidney and liver disease.

For our canine patients the Senior Wellness Profile also includes a Heartworm Test.

For our feline patients the Senior Wellness Profile includes a Feline Leukemia and AIDS tests.

After a complete physical exam is completed the doctor will go over all test results with the owner, and formulate a wellness plan for the pet.  The entire process takes about 30 minutes.  Contact the Dorr Veterinary Clinic more information.
